Sabertooth + Arduino + Wifi

I am looking to buy some stuff. I have this rover project I am investigating. I have a sabertooth 2x25 and some spectrum R/C stuff. It all works.

Current goals:
Control Rover via wifi
Stabilized speed and movement

From what I have researched it appears an arduino + wifi shield is the way to go. Apparently the arduino will connect to the sabertooth using simple serial. Oh I also have a gy401 and a wifi webcam.

Which arduino and shield should I get? Will I be able to utilize my gyro GY401 or will I need a different one? How about speed control? Right now it’s sensitive, it’s too fast and starts/stops so suddenly it shakes things pretty good on RC.

I have a wifi webcam.

Sorry if I sound slightly retarded. Young Aspergers. I really appreciate the assistance. Feel free to share links with relevant information

Do you have an idea of the size of robot (to get an idea of the size of motor controller you will need)?
As for the gy401 gyro - there does not seem to be much information on the protocol - it seems as though it might output RC PWM.
You can potentially use this with an Arduino on one of the digital PWM input pins, but it will take some coding.

As for which WiFi shield - the choice is really up to you; if you’re new to programming, find one which is well documented. Most are based on the same chip.

As for speed control - it’s all about the choice of motor controller. Note that you will likely need a motor which has a rear encoder.
