I notiiced when i go from hard left to hard right my error light flahses most of the time, iis this normal? i had some relcalibration problems again too, but a fresh set of batteries for the reciever seems to have cure that. but the flashing still ooccur? this means overcurrent doesent it? i dont really understand whats happening. any suggestions? ignore it? am i jsut really unlucky with my sabertooths? this is my second…
hmm, are you going from straight right to straight left without stopping? If so, this may be causing a slight over current. Best thing to do is allow a second for the motors to stop before turning in the opposite directions. Some motors (such as my own) can’t be reversed hard after driving forward. I need to let them stop before doing so.
yeah, i am. its kind of hard to tell a sumo driver to take it easy on the turns though! i guess the exponential response would give it a bit of a break, but i prefer having it off.
The error light will typically mean overcurrent. You’re not damaging the motor drive by momentarily hitting the current limit. That’s why the current limit is there.
If its not causing any adverse effects, just ignore it.
Reciever battery… this concerns me somewhat. You aren’t feeding an unregulated RX pack voltage back into the Sabertooth through the logic side, are you? In some circumstances that could cause problems.
wow, i have no idea, my reciever uses a 6v aa pack to power it. but that doesent feed into the sabertooth i dont think… then then sabertooth gets ots own powerf from a 7.2v nicd pack. the only wires connecting the reviever to the sabertooth are the 2 sets of 3 signal wires normally used to run servos.
