Sabertooth 2x25 and a Gyro

I built a robot lawn mower and want to add a Futaba gy401 to make it easier to cut straight lines. I’m using a sabertooth 2x25 controller spektrum receiver and DX5e controller. I have the motors hooked to the Aile and Elev on the receiver. Can someone tell me how to hook up a gyro and even if its possible

You will in fact need two Gyro unit if you want to use standard Helicopter gyros, one between the Receiver and the Sabertooth on each channels.
The position / angle / side of each Gyro will be different as they need to be placed on the right axis you want to stabilize.

DialFonZo,

I also built a RC controlled mower and plan to install two gyros as you suggest. Does the second sentence of your reply mean both gyros need to be installed on the centerline of the mower?

Rotor,
Have you installed your gyros and are they working? Any lessons learned?

I have yet to install the gyros

I have installed one gy401 gyro on my lawnmower and it works great. You don’t need two. Go to utube and search lawnmowers with gyros. Perfectly straight lines.

Very interested in how you wired up your gyro. I couldn’t find any details from YouTube. Would you mind sharing how you did it? Thx

Tom send me your email address and I will send you what I used to wire mine up.

Hi Billp,
I am currently working on an rc mower and cane across this thread about using a gyro with a sabertooth motor controller. Is there any chance you could share with me how you wired yours to work? Thank you for your help.
