RPLIDAR Stopped working?

I recently got an RPLIDAR A2. Using the precompiled frame-grabber utility was able to get the RPLIDAR operational. Working working with it over a couple of days.
I fired it up the other day and it doesn’t appear to be taking measurements. All of the functions within frame-grabber seem to work, START/STOP, SET MOTOR SPEED, etc.
I also don’t see the fain’t laser flicker being emitted any longer.
I have limited resources at the moment but does anyone know of a diagnostic or something else I could use to troubleshoot the unit???

The functions work, but don’t output any data? Does it appear to be connecting to your computer? How do you have it powered? You can also see with the manufacturer directly: [email protected] (try to provide as many details as possible).

The RPLIDAR is connected via USB and is being recognized by the computer.
The frame-grabber shows
IDLE Model 36 FW:1.20 HW:2 Serial…
You can start scanning and MODE will change to SCAN and unit will start scanning
You can adjust the motor speed accordingly with unit responding
Nothing else updates on the screen
It is clearly communcating through the USB to the frame-grabber application.
The same setup worked for two days with no issues then just stopped.

In bothe applications status returned is 0 which is defined as OK
This implies to me that the following self checks passed
.
o Laser transmit power exceeds limited value
o Laser cannot power on normally
o Scan speed of Laser scanner system is unstable
o Scan speed of Laser scanner system is too slow
o Laser signal sensor works abnormally

Once again, it’s best to contact the manufacturer directly: [email protected] (try to provide as many details as possible).
Note that using only USB to power the sensor may be insufficient - only certain USB 3.0 ports can provide the current needed - you likely need to power it separately as well.

for tracking purposes…

Support,

I purchased an RPLIDAR A2 from Robotshop and it worked for a couple of days then stopped working.
The technical details and troubleshooting information are at the following link.
As you can see I’m being directed to you for additional support. I have a ticket font=Candara,sans-serif open with Robotshop[/font]
robotshop.com/forum/post-p127340#p127340

As I indicated, the device as working fine for a few days then stopped working. You can see from the screen dumps of the tools programs that there is clear communications between the computer and the LIDAR.
In addition, I get the same results powered off of USB only and with USB+external power supply.

Please advise further troubleshooting or return for exchange.

Thank you

Hi,

Ok, please kindly contact robotshop to replace one for you, and also forward this mail to them.
They will return this one to me for further test, becase right now i cannot remotely operated or monitored this Lidar to find out the cause.

I have the same exact issue with mine, was there any chance that the issue was not a broken measurement/laser part ? Did you need to get it replaced at the end ?
