I’m able to connect RPLIDAR A2 to a laptop, there is a red light that blinks a little bit, then turns off and works great with the example applications.
When I connect up with the RoboRIO, when I connect the serial port a red light turns on and will not go off. I’m able to get information and health (“OK”) but unable to get the RPLIDAR to turn.
Any health would be helpful.
Thanks.
Hi,
It may be possible that the RobotRIO is unable to provide enough current for the RPLidar. Please note that according to its specs, the roboRIO can only provide up to 900 mA maximum per port.
As you can see from the specifications of the RPLidar A2, it may need up to 1500 mA (typical 1200 mA) at startup. If this requirement is not met, it may simply not initialize properly or not provide any data.
Of course, the issue may be something else, such as how you access the port with your DAQ or how you try to read the data / communicate with the device.
Sincerely,
I hooked up power and still getting a red light. Took minimal work to get working with C# with a Windows PC, so will have to try something else.
