I’m planning on buying an RPLIDAR A2m8 for my autonomous model car. I need a range of at least 4m outside on a bright sunny day. The datasheet specifies at least 8m range indoor. Any idea on how this range would be affected outdoors, possibly with direct sunlight on the walls that I want to detect ?

Hi Jeanjean,
To be honest, we never tried the RPLidar A2 in bright daylight or with daylight reflection directly on walls. That being said, it will most likely be affected negatively by any large amount of sunlight.
Since it is not built for use outdoors, it will most likely be difficult to use in direct sunlight on the walls being measured.
