RPLIDAR A2 360 Laser Scanner

Hello,

My name is Miguel. I am a student at the University of Michigan and I’m currently working on a project using this particular LIDAR. After reviewing some of the picture you have on your website I noticed that the adapter that comes with this LIDAR (for USB) has a DC Port next to the USB port. I was wondering what this was for and if there was a schematic on the PCB of this adapter. I have tried looking for the schematics online but had no such luck.

Thank you,

-Miguel

Unfortunately the board is not open source, and as such the manufacturer does not provide the design files. It’s meant to be used “as is” as an adapter board.

Do you happen to know if it is a DC jack? If so, what type of connector is it?

The connector on the USB adapter is a barrel connector and external power is needed. It is a small size and we’ll provide the specs for the connector shortly. My apologies for not catching that part of your question. The sensor needs 5V, 1.5A. Most USB 3.0 ports can provide this, but USB 2.0 may have issues.

The specs for the barrel connector are:
