Can the RPLIDAR 360 Laser Scanner communicate wirelessly or does it have to be connected to a computer in order to operate?

Hi,

As can be seen in the manual (page 7) for the product, you can connect a microcontroller or other device to the UART port directly to receive the data.

This means you could also connect any manner of wireless transmission modules to the UART port, such as Bee modules, like XBee, ZigBee and Bluetooth Bee.

Do know if the Hokuyo URG-04LX-UG01 Scanning Laser Rangefinder can communicate wirelessly?

The Hokuyo URG-04LX-UG01 Scanning Laser Rangefinder does not offer a wireless connection.

A possible solution would be to use a small microcontroller that offers a USB host interface to connect the product to. Then, you can connect this microcontroller to a wireless device, like Wifi, XBee or Bluetooth dongle. Can you tell us a bit more about your project?
