Hi,
I bought a rover with blutooth kit and a xbee shield (no xbee). I was wondering if there is any information out there on how the components hook up and any sample sketches to get them all working together. I bought this as a kit for me to do with my son, but this is our first attempt with an arduino (or anything for that matter). I tried finding info on this site and else where, but I cannot. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
You should be able to use the sample WASD code (as described in the manual).
Note that when you upload the sketch, you cannot have the Bluetooth module connected to the Rover.
Try using the WASD code ia USB first to ensure the rover works.
I am in the same position as jgallent - I can’t find specifics on how to connect the bluetooth module to the Rover v2 board.
On page 24 of robotshop.com/media/files/pd … ematic.pdf does not seem to contain a xbee2 connector (and might not even be v2 board?)
Please advise on instructions to connect the DF-Bluetoothv3 module to the Rover v2 board.
Thanks
Can you confirm you have the following Bluetooth module?
robotshop.com/en/dfrobot-ser … odule.html
Under the heading PCB V2.0 (view of the top of the PCB with green arrows), note the arrow #30.
This is where that Bluetooth module is inserted, facing the front of the board (hanging over the motor controller #12)
If this does not resolve the issue, can you provide an image of the Bluetooth module (so we can check versions) as well as the PCB and we’ll gladly show you what to connect where.
Thanks, I see that those pin labels match up with the module.
The tutorial under the heading “Bluetooth Kit (2.0)” explicitly states XBEE2 is the location to install this and makes use of (13) Xbee select switch.
Is there an updated version of this tutorial available, or is it accurate?
Unfortunately there were a few issues with the Bluetooth kit when we were including this module:
robotshop.com/en/dfrobot-bluetooth-bee.html
It required soldering XBee headers to XBee 2
robotshop.com/en/2mm-10pin-xbee-socket.html
We decided to instead use the module you have now.
Note that the same pins can be used instead for a long-range transceiver:
robotshop.com/en/dfrobot-rf- … =RB-Dfr-18
We plan to update the manual as soon as possible.
Thanks for the reply. The only issue I have is how the bluetooth module is connected to the xbee pro(no xbee) and how the xbee pro is connected to the rover v2 board. Any assistance would be helpful.
Thanks again.
Not sure we understand correctly: The Bluetooth module and XBee modules are entirely different and not compatible with one another.
