rover no blink

We have had Rover ( DFRobotShop Rover V2 - Arduino Compatible Tracked Robot (Autonomous Kit) for a few months now and we still cannot get him to blink. Instead we get this: avrdude verification error first mismatch at byte 0x0000 0x0c ! = 0x11. Using two different computers running Windows 7, consulting with a couple of programmer types, searching through the Forum and other internet sites, we still get no blink, just the error code. Admittedly, we are quite incompetent. Looking through the Forum, we have found what appear to be similar problems, with various solutions proposed, but then the threads end, as far as we can tell, with no resolution announced.

The computer recognizes Arduino Uno at com 3, the green light comes on, but no blink, just the verification error. Having failed since March to determine what the verification error means, and having no idea about how to resolve it, we thought to raise the white flag, before giving Rover to the Humane Society. We have tried to follow suggestions found in the forum, but incompetence does impose some limitations.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Are you using the USB cable that came with the rover?
If not, some cables are bad and cause a lot of problems. Can you try using a different USB cable?
Also, in the Arduino IDE, have you chosen Arduino Uno as the Board Type?
Did you manually install the Arduino Uno drivers (these are not installed automatically).

Thanks. Yeah . . . was using same USB cable the came with rover. Tried a different one, same error code. Arduino Uno selected as Board Type. Uninstalled Arduino and started over, but with the same results. In attempting to install the drivers, it says it already has the right ones. Computer recognizes Arduino Uno at serial port COM4. Is there a resource for interpreting such errors?

Did you do any burning of a bootloader or play with the ICSP header? That shouldn’t be necessary… If you didn’t, there might a problem with the board. If you can email us at [email protected] and specify your order number and a reference to this forum thread, we can look into getting you a replacement.
