Rover kit for my son

Hi,

My son (16) is interested in Unmanned Ground Vehicles that he can build and learn to program to carry out autonomous tasks. The Lynxmotion A4WD1 Rover kit looks promising but I need your help to make sure it is the right product for him.

He’s knows a little C++, Java, and C#. Can you describe the extent to which this rover can be programmed to perform autonomous tasks (what language is used and whether there’s an interface to a PC/MAC to write-download programs). Ideally, it would also have an on-board video camera that he could also use to pilot the rover remotely so he can choose whether to go autonomous or remote control.
