Ok, newbie question. When soldering the red and black wires to the motors, the diagram does not seem to be very clear where to attach at. Do you solder to both sides of the copper tabs or inside the plastic groove at the bottom?

The little metal tabs protruding from the motors are quite delicate. All you really need is to make a solid connection between the tabs and the leads - you can solder to either side (being careful not to burn the plastic), or create a hook in the wire and pass it through the hole in the tab. Either way, don’t flex the tabs too much.
