I have a sage green roomba. Today it developed a problem: it starts, but stops after 5 seconds. It repeats this cycle a few times, then stops completely, and the light turns red.
I always clean it thoroughly after every use, and did so again today, but the cleaning didn’t help.

Thank you very much for these suggestions - I’ve cleaned every cranny with compressed air, and reset the battery, but the problem remains.
The robot starts when I press the power / clean buttons. It runs for a few seconds and then stops. Then it starts again. After 6 or 7 turnoffs & restarts, the red light goes on and the robot beeps in distress.
Could it need a new battery?
When your roomba stops does the “status” light or the “power” light turn red? Does it do any sounds or beeps after it has stopped?
When you say that you clean it thoroughly, do you clean it with compressed air? If not, it might be a good idea to do so. You may want to clean the robots cliff sensors, drive wheels and under the robots bumper with compressed air to see if this helps.
You may also try resetting the robot by removing the battery, pressing the power button for at least 15 seconds and then reinserting the battery.
Good day,
Your problem sounds more like a sensor problem than a battery problem.

I had the exact same issue. The Roomba would run about 6 inches and announce Error 14. My problem was dirt sensor lenses. They were dirty. Located under the front dirt bin they are clear pieces of plastic. Clean them off with rubbing alcohol with a q-tip and that may fix the issue. It worked for me.
