I have a 500 series Roomba, I can’t remember the exact number. It has scheduling. Anyway a while ago it started making an unpleasent sort of thunking sound that visibly shakes it. After a bit it just errors out and tells me to clean the brushes (they’re plenty clean).
Did some Google searching and immediately found videos of the same exact behavior. But in those cases their Roombas had a different, more complicated brush setup with yellow guide disks in addition to bearings.
My brushes are not meant to come apart and they just have small yellow bearings. I also took apart the gear box expecting to find hair (like in the videos) but there was none. Near as I can tell, my Roomba was redesigned to prevent this exact problem. And yet it’s happening.
The videos explained that the sound I hear is actually the brush assembly being lifted up and dropped. It’s what the Roomba does when it thinks the brushes are tangled. Which they’re not. My brushes and bearings are spotless. No idea why it would do this. Any thoughts? Thanks.
