Roomba 770 not detect homebase, remote or virtual wall

My 770 is 1.5 years old, i use it every day since purchasing it. It will not detect homebase, it will go through both my virtual walls like as if it doesn’t exist and my remote control that came with it will not work(green light blinks on base, both virtual walls and remote indicating power) . I removed the battery for 24 hours but that didn’t make a difference. is that an indication of the little round IR on top of the bumper is no longer working correctly?

Right now i let the vaccum go about its daily routine but i have to manually place it on the base to charge. The base works no problem and the virtual walls also blink correctly.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Roomba. It does appear in this case that the top IR sensor may be defective. Since it is not seeing the home base, virtual walls or remote control. But, the robot charges when installed on the home base.

If you feel comfortable opening up the robot, you could verify if the sensor appears to be soldered properly. The IR emitter may have failed and may need to be replaced.

is that something that you sell? Does that also mean the bumper needs to be replaced or is the IR emitter something that can be replaced separately from the bumper?

We unfortunately do not sell replacement parts for the Roomba 700 series at the moment.

If you are comfortable with soldering, the IR emitter can be replaced separately from the bumper.
