I’ve had my Roomba 650 for a couple months now and just recently I noticed it wasn’t vacuuming anything off the floor anymore. It would do it’s usually route every day at the scheduled time and after it was done vacuuming I noticed the floor was still the same. Nothing was picked up. I checked the fanon the back of the dust bin and it seems to be working fine but the two middle brushes are not. I have to reach under and give the brushes sort of a kick start with my finger to get them going… When I did a diagnostics test to see if the brushes were working they seemed to be fine, until I placed the roomba back on the carpet The two middle brushes immediately stopped spinning. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, please clean and verify your robots main brushes. Please be certain to remove the yellow brush bearings as the ends of the brushes and clean under them. Debris and dust can accumulate under these bearings which causes resistance on the robots brushes. Since the motor appears to run, they is certainly something preventing from turning properly. If this does not fix the issue, the problem is probably inside the gearbox. You can also have the robot run without the brushes to see if the problem persists. It seems like the motor is losing some power as soon as you put it on the floor. That causes the brush to stop spinning. It must be something preventing the motor to rotate freely. Maybe the belt is full of dust and dirt also.
I have an IRoomba 650. It is a couple of years old, we have replaced everything but the battery. It has stopped sucking. I have reset the battery. Is it time for a new one?
I’ve been using 2 iRobot 650’s for about 10 years. On my 5 year old Roomba, it was still getting suction but was not picking up debris. When I looked in the reservoir, I found lots of lint, but nothing else (like small pieces of plastic and stuff like that). That meant it was related to the ROLLERS, not the vacuum parts. I replaced the rollers – didn’t help. Then I replaced the Cleaning Head. I bought a used one on eBay. It completely fixed the problem. Now the Roomba cleans like a new one. Hope this helps someone else!
Can you stick your finger under it while running to feel both brushes are moving?
Have you changed the filter in a while? completely cleaning it?
