Roomba 5xx Loud Impacting Noise

First Off, thanks to the forum for diagnosing my last issue and getting my little guy up and running.
My new problem is a loud, floor-impacting sound when cleaning. I’ve thoroughly cleaned the brushes and I think the issue is that the flexible rubber brush has too much play in it when installed (too loose). It’s definitely the flexible rubber brush because I don’t get the sound when it’s removed. When installed, the main brush has about 1/8" of ‘play’ (looseness) but the flexible rubber brush has about 1/3" to 1/2" of ‘play’. Is this the normal or the potential cause of the problem? Has this happened to any of you and will a simple replacement brush fix it? Thanks for your help!

Update: I just opened up the gearbox as per the cleaning instructions and it’s clean inside … so it’s not that at least.

Neither looks damaged - Here’s the video of the issue. Is the roller missing a washer or something?

Hi,

We would like you to verify if the end of the brushes seems to be damaged. If not, then please verify if the gears sockets are. It’s possible you will have to change your brush casing gears if the brushes damaged the brush socket.

You can find replacement brushes in our Roomba 500 maintenance kit here : robotshop.com/irobot-maintenance-kit-roomba-500.html

If you need replacement gears, you can find them here : robotshop.com/roomba-500-main-brush-casing-gears-1.html

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Hi,

It’s not clear on the video, but does your brush have a yellow brush bearing ? It seems your brush is missing this.

Sincerely,
