Roomba 571 will not turn on

I have a roomba 571, it’s about 3 years old. I would come home and find it off the base and the battery seemed to be dead. Charge it and it would work fine again but eventually it wouldn’t charge. I bought a new battery and put it on the charger, the light flickered amber in a strange fashion. I checked it later and no light, push the power button and nothing happened. I’ve left it on the charger and nothing happens. Now I’ve read that when the roomba is on a charger a light should come on. I took the unit apart, wiggled the board and the amber lights came on briefly then went away. What can I do to resolve this? Does it need a new motherboard or some part on the motherboard?

First thing to check if the battery has been contacted well with spring. No contact no charging.

The NiMH battery is not going long with Roomba. Even new one. Try to find the new Lithium battery for Roomba. You can find on eBay. It worth the price. That battery can last Roomba for over 3 hours after fully charged.

There are a few things that would need to be checked before replacing the robots motherboard. Have you tested the output voltage of the robots power supply and home base. You should get 22V from the robots charger and 2.8V from the robots home base. Have you also tried resetting your robot and then plugging the charger directly into the side of the robot without using the home base to see if this makes a difference?
