Got a SallyCat transporting loads of sand onto my tile floor and the main brushes in my Roomba stopped working!
No error messages.
I have cleaned the gears and the brush-assembly runs effortlessly with 5V on the motor-terminals. Wires and soldering inspected and plug cleaned.
After assembly sometimes brushes work for a short time.
Mainboard/driver failure? Suggestions highly appreciated
Do the gears appear to turn without the brushes? Have you also cleaned the brush bearings on the side of the brushes? Dirt and hair can accumulate under the brush bearings and can cause over resistance on the brush motor.
Does the robot have the brush issue on carpet or hard floors also? If the brush motor stops because of over-resistance, it is most likely an issue with the motor. You can also test that voltage is coming from the motor connection on the motherboard to see if the motor always received the proper voltage.
Thank you Julie, for your answer. I think I will try your last proposal.
