Roomba 560 Dock light won't come on automatically

I have a Roomba 560 that has worked very well until recently. The dock light no longer comes on as the battery gets low. I can press the dock button and the dock light will flash, but Roomba just continues cleaning and does not appear to be seeking the dock (does not slow down and turn toward dock when in range) and has even run over the docking station without docking. I changed the battery, but that does not appear to make any difference. When the battery needs to be recharged, I can place Roomba on the docking station and it will charge and resume its schedule, but then still will not dock in the next cycle. Any suggestions?

Hi,

The problem you are experiencing can be caused by either the charging station which doesn’t emit the signal to the Roomba or the IR Sensor on the Roomba itself.

Do you have any virtual walls? If you do, turn one on and verify if the Roomba can detect it. If it doesn’t, you will need to replace the IR bumper sensor.

If it does, you will need to replace the charging station.

Thank you for your reply and your interest. However, I don’t understand how either of the fixes you suggest will make the docking happen automatically. I can press the dock button and the light comes on, but it is as if the actual docking function is never initiated. Roomba appears to behave the same way whether or not I have turned on the dock light, and the dock light no longer comes on unless I press the button. It used to come on automatically when the battery got low.

Once again, my sincere thanks for your interest and your help.

Hi,

When the Dock button is pressed, the Roomba will start cleaning until it finds the docking station. In this case, since the robot doesn’t detect the docking station because of either the IR sensor or the IR transmitter on the docking station is defective, the robot never stops its cycle and go into docking position.
