Roomba 530 neither bumper sensor is working

Hello,

I’m having issues with an older Roomba 530. It started to only move slightly backwards, spin, then go backwards again. It then gives me the 9 beep error…

I entered the bumper sensor diagnostics (held clean and dock, pressed spot 6 times, released clean and dock, pressed dock twice) and neither spor not dock light up when either the left or right bumper is pressed. I’ve tried it on a 2nd roomba and it works fine so I’m confident that I was doing that correctly.

I find it very odd that both bumper sensors would fail at the exact same time so I’m wondering if its another problem. Any help/ideas are appreciated…

I’m thinking of buying a Roomba 530 that’s not working. The seller tried replacing the battery but it still didn’t work. He thinks its a problem with the sensor. Is there a link to the diagnostic test so I could find out exactly what the problem is to see if its repairable before committing to buying?

In this case, we would suggest that you first try cleaning the robots sensors. If they are covered in dust, that would explain why both have failed. We suggest cleaning under the robots bumper with a compressor or can of compressed air.

If this does not fix the issue, you may replace the robots bumper sensors along with our repair instructions.

Usually when a robot does not charge after replacing the battery, the problem can be with the charger or with the robots motherboard. If it is a problem with the motherboard, these are generally expensive to replace. If your is OK, it would be a good option though.
