Hi!
I recently replaced the bumper IR emitter in both of the bumper sensors on my Roomba 530. The right side bumper works like a charm. The left side however does not. After replacing the left bumper IR emitter, each time, the Roomba runs fine for a full battery charge. Then, after placing it back on the charger, the Roomba faces error 9.
I’ve viewed the IR emitter with a phone while performing test 2 of the diagnostic routine and notice that sometimes it will work and sometimes it will either be very dull or not on at all. At times I’ve noticed that moving the cables which connect to the bumper sensor change wether it’s working or not.
I’m guessing my problem lies with the cliff and bumper sensor harnessing and there might be a break in the wires somewhere. Has anyone seen this before?
I think that the bumper sensor IR emitters are wired in series. So I tried jumping the sensor harness wires and connecting a wire directly from the right bumper sensor emitter to the left bumper sensor emitter and that still provided a dull light. Maybe the harness is not getting enough power from the motherboard?
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks!
