I’ve got a Roomba 530 that would not charge through the home base (error code 5 blinks). I perhaps prematurely purchased a new battery only to realize i should have tried a reset first and direct charge.
So I’m doing that with new battery. After reset and with a direct charge I get the solid green fully charged light, but it does not work at all. Any ideas? Thx
Update. I came back a few hours later and i am now getting error code 5 again
Have you made sure that there is nothing obstructing the battery from connecting to the battery contacts? You may want to clean the battery contacts and the Roomba contacts with a clean dry cloth and try again.
Do you also see a solid green light on the Roomba’s charger? You get an error 5 even by plugging the charging directly into the side of the robot?
If so, there could be an issue with your charger or the robots charging system. If you could verify the output voltage of the power supply. If it is 22V this means that it is OK to charge the robots battery.
With a new battery and a working charger, we would suggest then that is issue is coming from the robots motherboard.
Contacts cleaned. 22v out of charger 16.3 on battery. I got only 2.6 v on home base, so I am using direct charge. Light is solid green on both charger and Roomba. With direct charge, I got error code 5, but only once I have reset and charged again ( a few times) and have not gotten any more errors
