Roomba 400 Clean/Max Buttons Don't Work

I have a Roomba model 4222, the Clean and Max buttons do not work any longer. No idea why, although the trip down the stairs after the cliff sensors got gunked up might have contributed. The Power and Spot switches both work; Power switches on and off and the Roomba will clean a designated spot. Charger and Home Base are working fine.

I took it apart, cleaned everthing. I don’t know what the pinout is on the switch circuit board, but all the green lights come on and off. It’s hare to imagine the button switches failing, they still snap when depressed. All connectors, etc. seem to be properly connected.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help…

THanks for your reply. I didn’t know the Roomba had a remote control, my wife found it in the drawer. It works using the remote, which would seem to indict the control panel board. We’ll probably go forward with purchasing that and see what happens.

Thanks again,

Glad to hear that you are able to control the Roomba with the remote. This indeed indicates that the control panel is defective.

Hi,

It sounds like there may have been damage to the control panel circuit board in this case. You may purchase a replacement circuit board from our store. The problem could also come from the robots motherboard itself. But, the control panel is cheaper to start off with in this case.

The other option would be to purchase a remote control that is compatible with your robot. This way you could turn the robot on and start a clean or max cleaning cycle with the remote control.
