RomeoV2 and LinkSprite GPS

Hi,

I just want to ask if these two are compatible before purchasing as I don’t have much success on my GPS project.

Romeo V2 (robotshop.com/ca/en/romeo-v2 … a32u4.html)
LinkSprite GPS Shield (robotshop.com/ca/en/linkspri … duino.html)

I will also put an XBee on the RomeoV2 controller.

TIA

Hi,

According to the information provided by the two manufacturers, the Romeo V2 and the shield should be compatible. While the manufacturer claims the Romeo V2 is compatible with the Arduino Uno R3, they are a bit different and we do not know if they are absolutely compatible.

If compatibility is a big issue for your next purchase, we recommend that you buy a GPS board that is not in a shield factor and instead simply exposes a UART (or I2C or SPI) interface. This allows you to connect it directly to the right pins and prevent all the potential shield compatibility issues.

You can browse our non-shield GPS modules here. If you need to translate from 5V to 3V, you can also use a level shifter. You can find those here.

Sincerely,
