I am interested in your product RobotShop M100RAK Modular Robotic Arm Kit / Product code : RB-Rbo-85. I would like to buy several pieces to use in entertainment area. Because I am beginner in robotic products, I have some questions.
a) robotic arm have not electronic parts, what controller you can recommend ( I know, I can use SSC-32 Servo Controller with RIOS software, but in this case I must use PC. I want use robotic arms with short motion sequence and this is maybe too complicated) . Please, does exist standalone controller with programing software like a RIOS where I do not use PC for running sequence ?
b) please, what power supply you recommended for me ?
c) if don’t exist any way for controller and I must use SSC-32 with PC, can I connect and control several controllers with one RIOS PC or several arms with one controller?
You can really use any servo controller; if the onboard electronics cannot handle the high current, then simply plug the 4.8V to 6V power directly to the motors (remembering common ground).
You need a 4.8V to 6V power supply capable of at least 10A. We suggest an old computer power supply (5V line can provide 10A to 20A in most cases - read the label to be sure).
The M100RAK only has four servos onboard (no gripper), while the SSC-21 can be connected to up to 32 servos, which is enough for 8 arms (without additional servos).
