RobotShop iRobot Roomba Lifetime Warranty

RobotShop announces today the offer of a lifetime warranty on all iRobot Roomba Robotic Vacuums for an undetermined period of time.

The RobotShop Limited Lifetime Warranty is applicable on certain selected items only such as the iRobot Roomba for a normal, non-commercial use. This warranty is supported directly by the RobotShop Robot Repair Center.

RobotShop repairs or replaces the defective product free of charge, during its useful lifespan (5 years for the Roomba) if the defect is caused by a problem with the material or manufacturing of the product. Normal maintenance of the item is not covered by this warranty (such as the replacement of the battery or of the brushes). An excessive use of the robot will cancel the warranty just as the fact of opening or modifying of the unit. Shipping to and from RobotShop are the responsibility of the customer.

This Lifetime warranty is available for North American and International customers.

Good question Robot Girl.

All warranties are protected against abuse. Everyday use will not be considered abusive usage. The warranty will become voided simply if the robot is opened, if you decide to repair it yourself or if we determine that there was abusive use of the product.

If the Roomba becomes defective during its normal lifespan (5 years), we will repair the robot or exchange the defective robot during the first year, per the manufacturer warranty.

Good day bduffy,

Unfortunately, the RobotShop Limited Lifetime Warranty is not retroactive. It is only available for customers that have bought their robot beginning July 1st 2008.

Your robot is still under the manufacturer’s 1 year warranty. Therefore, please contact us via the RobotShop support center for an exchange of your robot under warranty.

It’s a really good initiative! RobotShop, you’re the Best.

Hi,

Good news!
I use my Roomba every day. I guess it is not what you consider excessive?

So is this warranty policy retroactive? I purchased my Roomba on August 30th 2007 (it didn’t ship until the middle of September though), and have started running into a problem where the main brushes will not spin.

I’ve cleaned it a number of times, tried the spot/dock system reset, removing the battery and pressing the clean button for 15 seconds, all to no avail.
