I know mainly nothing about robots (haven’t got the chance yet to learn) or python, but my boyfriend is into both.
He is a beginner though, and doesn’t have a robot that is programmable in python. I want to buy him one.
So…is there a construction kit for a programmable robot in python? Can you please tell me what I need to buy (except the book)?

To be honest, there are not many Python-specific robots, but we do have a few options.
Some to definitely look at would be the GoPiGo & BrickPi robot kits:

]BrickPi+ Starter Kit/:m]
While neither of those are in stock currently, if you are interested in one of those products we recommend that you place an order anyways so that you reserve one from our next order from the manufacturer (we make periodic orders).
The EZ-Robot kits’s software / SDK also has unofficial support for Python (not the best for a beginner, but another possible option). Here are the kits:

When it comes down to it, most robotic endeavors using Python usually relies on the Raspberry Pi / Raspberry Pi 2 platforms.

Yes, the RB-Bir-01 would also be a good option for using Python (and many other languages!). We probably also have a few others that we did not mention here, in the category of educational robots.
You could also consider any robot kits that can be connected to a computer by USB or Bluetooth to be used with Python as you could program software for the robot that runs on the computer to control it.
