Robotic Platform for Navigation Tasks

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

Description:

I am looking for a robotic platform used for navigation tasks. The size could be around 350 x 350 mm or bigger (length and width). The robot has to execute alone a motion trajectory in offices, rooms, etc… It will be used only indoor. The desired coordinates will be set from the operator first. The autonomous robot has to carry out a loads up to 10kg. They will be UVC lamps or any other loads.

Hardware concerned:
The platform should has minimum 4 ultrasonic sensors, 1 IR sensor, RGB Camera, Lidar, UMN sensor, WiFi communication. The battery should work up to 3-4 hours. I am not sure do I need any navigation sensor (module) too.

Software concerned:
I am looking for potential navigation software regarding my task. Regarding some of the robotic platforms in RobotShop I see that mainly arduino 328 controller is used. May I change this controller with arduino MKR 1010 Wifi because of the WiFi communication needs?

Troubleshooting steps already taken:

I found some robotic platform with similar characteristics:

3WD Omni-Directional Arduino Compatible Mobile Robot

4WD Arduino Compatible Basic Mecanum Robot

Could you please suggest better solution if it exists?

Additional information:

Our budget is up to 2500 Euro

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hi, nice project!

For the lidar part, let me suggest you this

it is optimized for indoor uses, maybe you nedd more than just one but it’s not expensive!
Good luck!

Cheers

Hello @tihoi_bg,

The platforms you mentioned should work because their load capacity seems to be enough according to your requirements. Note that both of the options you mentioned use Arduino based boards (Atmega 328) but you could change the controller for a different Arduino board and motor controller. These platforms also include an IO Expansion board which allows you to easily connect a number of commonly used sensors. I suggest checking the hyperlinks to know if those boards will work for your project.

Also, keep in mind that both of the options you mentioned don’t include the Camera or the Lidar (which are the most expensive sensors you mentioned) so that will increase the overall price. They’re also not the most robust options available (for the budget you mentioned) so I suggest checking the Wheeled & Tracked Robots. I did a quick search and found this one:

Yes, it has a higher cost but it includes everything needed in an autonomous robot and offers better features

However, if the options you find don’t meet your requirements a good option would be looking for a chassis instead, that way you can customize the electronics according to your project.

I hope this information can help you out!

These structures additionally encompass an IO Expansion board which lets in you to without difficulty join a variety of typically used sensors. I endorse checking the hyperlinks to recognize if these boards will work for your project.
