Robotic Pinata whacking device - help please

Good Morning/afternoon guys…

newbie here and im after some advice…

As part of a marketing campaign i want to create an internet enabled robotic arm which is capable of whacking a Pinata ( paper mache thing full of sweets etc) repeatedly, this will be streamed online for my web site users to play with…

I have been looking at various arms but I’m struggling to find one that is heavy duty enough, unless i go and sneak into the Ford assembly line tonight .

Best i have found to date are these two:

Crustcrawler AX-18

or the

robotshop.com/modular-4-dof-robot-arm-open-loop-carbon-fiber.html

with a budget of maybe £1500 /$2500 would anyone have any other ideas?

I have the aurdino developers so thats no problem, its the hardware im struggling with…before i end up with a starter motor and a baseball bat

With those current models, i will have to make a scaled miniature version, but would really love a full sized build…

Hope you can help

all the best
Mitch

Fantastic Thanks Casmat… i may go for the arm with a servo on the top to give as much range of motion and swing as possible…

if any one else has any ideas please drop me a note

Nice information

Something pneumatic might be interesting as well.

You could use an arm like the following which is human sized: robotshop.com/ProductInfo.aspx?pc=RB-Rbo-85

However, it seems all you need is one degree of freedom in order to hit a piñata (i.e. one motor). In such a case you could use a servomotor with a gearbox like the ones here:
