Robotic jack to lift 5lbs

I’m interested in building a robotic jack to lift 5lbs about 30" straight up into the air. I’m thinking something like a motor controlled scissor jack. I don’t want the weight of a car jack so it would probably need to be custom built. Does anyone have any experience doing something like this or have any thoughts on the best way to accomplish this? Is there a better way than a scissor jack to do this?

Thanks

A linear actuator wouldn’t do the trick?

Are you thinking a linear actuator to lift the jack or completely in place of the jack? Are there any that extend 30"?

It’s really up to you. Yes, there are linear actuators which have a 30" stroke.

Does that suit your needs? You might want guide rails to keep the platform level.

Thanks for the idea but I don’t have that much room. I have about 8" for the recessed mechanism (jack, actuator or whatever), I need to raise a small platform from about 8" off the floor to between 30"-36".

Can you provide a rough sketch or drawing?
It sounds like you’ll need a scissor lift (something we don’t sell) or other approach.
