Robotic arm edge gripper

hi,

i just assembled a robotic arm edge and in process the blue wire from m2 came lose and of course, m2 is not functional.
I have ordered a replacement m2, however I have 2nd issue and that is the m1 makes noise, but the gripper doesnt move.

to summarize:

m1 makes sound, but doesnt move.

m2 makes no sounds or movement.

m3, m4 & m5 are fine.

question is:
does m2 affect m1? or is m1 completely powered by m1?

just want to make sure i dont have a secondary problem with my gripper.
