is anyone familiar w/ robotBasic? it is a freeware site i found-through a book at barnes and nobles–it seems to be a great source for running a bot, you can test your bot, through its simulation program first

Not really sorry.
We have however become quite fond of Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio, which is free for personal use. You can also simulate robots in a 3d environment and even compete online in virtual robot games at robochamps 
So far we have not seen any service developed for the POB-BOT for use with Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio.
