Hi, I would like to do an investment and to buy some servos (10/20 units).
I don't have too much money to spend, so I'm looking for cheap servos with however enough torque to do some interesting robots (humanoid, arm, hexapod, etc).
Initially I found MG995/MG996R servos, then I found rds3115 robot servo.
The features of the rds3115 are:
Weight:60g
Size:40.0*20.0*40.5mm
Speed:0.16sec/60°@4.8V 0.14sec/60°@6V
Stall Torque:13.5 kg/cm @4.8V 15kg/cm @6V
Operating Voltage:4.8-7.2Volts
Operating Current:150mA
Futaba,JR,SANWA,Hitec compatible.
price about US $7 (with brackets)
They're digital and they seems to be better than the mg series and to have a good quality/price ratio, what do you think?
Do you have some expirience with them?
Do you know some other servos with a similar quality/price ratio?
And I'm going to buy a 32 channel servo board (http://www.bajdi.com/torobot-32-channel-servo-controller/) for them what do you think about it?
rds3115 are there from $29 + shipping and more… where did you find them at $7? Are them for selling or is it an auction?
As you may know an auction online finish usually at a price close to the usual price you find online. Or maybe the seller is not good enough. It’s better to double check than to risk a certain amount of money.
From the technical aspects of the servos, I think they are good enough for the robotic projects you plan…
About the board, I’m not sure with which controller board you want to handle it, so maybe there is a more suitable/flexible solution. I just oppened some days ago a similar question in LMR’s forum and I got some useful tips. Even I created a Form to get new tips about boards so everybody will have more information and better handled:
You are right, there are some great offers in Aliexpress, however I checked before purchase that online shop and it has not a very good reputation if you Google it too
Hi to all , I’m new in this site! I saw your discussion about the servo motors rds3115 and its price… Probably I’ll buy it on aliexpress site where is very convenient… but I don’t find a site where I can see the datasheet of this servo.
Can someone confirm that it can powered witn 5V?
Is this servo a digital servo? If yes… exists a specific protocol to setup the position or can I control it with a standard PWM.

First of all, is to do some physics calculation to know what force do you need for move the arm, hand, robot … after you can know waht servo can do the job for you
