I’m planning to build a robot rover using the RobotShop Robot Rover for Arduino as platform.
This is my preliminary shopping list:
Platform:
RobotShop Robot Rover for Arduino (Tank Kit)
Motor controller:
Dual H-Bridge Motor Controller 1.1A 4.5 - 36V
Microcontroller:
Arduino Uno USB microcontroller
Wireless Communication:
DFRobot RF Modules
USB to TTL converter
I plan to add sensors, a camera, microphone, loud speaker maybe… later. But first I want to build the basic robot rover and to sucessfully program the microcontroller so I can remote control the robot with a PC.
Now, I’m wondering if I have missed something or if some of these components won’t work together. I would be most pleased to get replies to my post
I’m a cybernetics student and my shcool has a workshop that I can use, they have lots of soldering equipment and probably straight headers as well.
I’m only in my second year and this will be the first robot I build, so I’m pretty newb on most of this practical stuff
Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. The DFRobot RF module package actually include the USB to TTL converter, so you do not need to purchase one separately. You may need some mini (or half sized) breadboards, or the DFRobot IO shield to easily connect it to the Arduino. A mini switch is always helpful. The tank kit includes a 4xAA battery holder for the motors as well as a 9V battery holder, both with bare leads. You may want to solder some straight headers to make connections easy (the complete RobotShop Rover kit includes this standard).
You might want to use a prototyping shield in order to mound all the sensors and components you describe.
Also, a good starting point would be to use the Electronic Brick kit that comes with various sensors, switches, and shields to mount them easily onto the Arduino.
