Hi everyone,
I’m looking to get some input on a project I am working on. I am working on setting up an R/C rig to mount a 360-degree video camera and record video while the machine moves at a human walking speed (5 km/h) on a sidewalk. The camera rig and hard drives weigh in at 20 lbs.
Our total budget is around $1000-$1200 and the camera will be mounted at human eye level (target is 5’8"). We need a base that if wide enough to be stable while the machine is in motion.
I understand that these constraints are quite interesting so I am hoping that some experts can chime in here.
We are currently looking at two platforms to build on - the Dagu Wild Thumper (robotshop.com/en/dagu-wild-thumper-6wd-all-terrain-chassis-aluminum-75-1.html) and the Arduino track kit (robotshop.com/ca/en/arduino-tracked-mobile-tank-robot-kit.html). I am betting that both would probably require larger motors to reach our target speed.
What do you all think of these platforms? Are there any more within our budget that may be suitable? Any help is appreciated.
Alex
