Robot Elbow adjustment

Hi,

I am having a little bit of trouble understanding Step 17 in the SES arm assembly guide. It says:

“If you are going to use the RIOS L5 / L6 Arm control software, then you need to make one minor modification. Remove the servo horn screw from the elbow servo. Pull the servo horn off the servo, lift the arm two clicks (30°) at the elbow and reattach the servo horn and screw. Note, the Hitec spline has 24 grooves, so each groove is 15°”

I am going to use the RIOS software, but my issue is that if I take off the servo horn screw, then there are still two more screws attached to the servo horn that’s keeping it onto the arm, so that would not allow me to rotate the servo and make this adjustment. Am I suppose to remove these as well? I’m also a little unclear as to how you know that you have moved two groves once you remove the horn, and why you even need to remove the horn in the first place.

Thanks so much for the help.

You are instructed to remove the single center servo screw because that is all that is required to make the mod. You pull the servo horn and “C” bracket from the servos final gear. You rotate it slightly until it grabs, that’s the first “click” and you have moved the joint 15°. Now do it once more for the 30° change that’s required for the modification.

Thanks for your help, I’m pretty sure that it is correct now.
