Can the SS32-U for the ALD5 arm be properly run off a 7.5 volt battery pack? We go it working but there is a humming noise that concerns us.

Yes, the SSC-32U can run off a 7.4V battery pack, but most normal RC servo motors operate at between 4.8V to 6V nominal, so be sure to use high voltage RC servos.
