here’s what’s happening… i had followed the instruction in the manual… and everything’s seems to be doing cool and perfect. It’s about a week that i last used my SES arm kit. Turned it on and activated RIOS… it doesn’t seem to work… tried to play it… it doesn’t work… at one time it work kind of (only the shoulder and elbow) using the demo play… i switched to lynxterm… no problem - everything worked ok… switched back to RIOS again… it’s not working… trying to switch back and forth from rios and lynxterm-doesn’t work on rios… what’s my problem? any suggestions?
RIOS has a much greater demand on the communications bandwidth than Lynxterm. Have you installed any programs since you last used ROS sucessfully? Are you using serial or USB? What are your timouts set to?
I have installed programs-yes. I am using serial. I’m not sure i understand timeouts… its default 10 i think. Maybe you could enlighten me Jim on the proper setting of timeout. Thanks.
Maybe we should start over. Lets start with power… Does the green LED light up on the SSC-32? Are you using a 9vdc battery for VL, or are you using only the 6vdc wall pack to power everything?
Try looking through this thread…

I thought it solved the problem when i tried using additional 9v as your step 16. It didn’t automatically. For some reason, i realized (whether using 6v wall power alone or adding 9v) that my robotic arm worked if i have to go to lynxterm first and activate all servos at lynxterm… then i go to RIOS and play and it works fine. Do i have to do that everytime… or am i missing something? Thanks Jim for any thoughts.
By the way, since i started using RIOS… I dont know if i have to be concerned about this… my gripper opens when RIOS tells it to close and closes when RIOS tells it to open
There is no logical reason why you should have to do anything with Lynxterm before running RIOS. Lynxterm all=1500 is the same as the all=1500 in RIOS… Something IS being missed by the both of us. I’m just confused… Did you remember to remove the VS=VL jumper?
This could be caused if you built the gripper as a mirror image of the instructions. Yes it can be done. Or you need to click the servo reverse check box.
simple solutions… enable…enable…enable…enable… reverse (thx to you)…how can i miss that!
sorry for the bother… thanks for the help Jim… Happy Thanksgiving!
