Rios not working?

I am a student trying to get an arm working for a presentation a week from friday, 4/28/2006. My Rios software is not controlling the arm properly. The only one or two of the buttons in the moves/motion menu actually do anything, and when they do, the arm will move there but the opposite button will not bring it back. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Hello tlbluni,

did you test the arm with the “All = 1.5ms” button ?
what about the “SSC-32 config” panel, are the sliders doing something ?
is “playing a project” do something ?

check the power supply and the SSC-32 + COM port baud rate

Yes, the All =1.5 does work, so do the sliders. Also playing a precanned project works. Everything but the buttons to move the arm around. I only slightly confused!! I haven’t checked the baud rate lately, but the last time it was ok.

Weird, what about the smooth slider on the Move/Motions Form ?
try with different slider positions, any change ?
try to change the speed (10, 50, 100)

what SSC-32 Firmware are you using ?

what PC are you using ?
try to stop all running process, RIOS is a time critical program.

No, I am not running any extra programs. I have Rios 1.0.3 and unfortunatly the slider bar and speed change didn’t help either. Is it possible to program the arm straight from a BS2 board? I do have one of those if the ssc-32 isn’t going to work.

Hello tibluni,
i really don’t know why buttons are not working…that’s just “buttons” calling the same program engine than the “play” function…
so, if the play function works…i’m a bit lost.
did you tryed to uninstall/install RIOS (with the Windows’uninstall feature)
don’t forget to export your projects, or they will be overwritten.

is it the only feature not working ? (trying to cross clues)

could you tell me about your PC ?

  • what Windows version are you using ?
  • what about the microprocessor ? speed, memory etc…

yes, you can use a BS2 to controll the SSC-32, RIOS can export BASIC for BS2 code from a project
