I finally had the time to sit down and recalibrate my L6 arm today with the new chip Jim sent me but now that I’m done with that when i got to hit the Moves button in RIOS i get the following error.
“An error occurred while attempting to initialize the Borland Database Engine (error $210A)”
The Microsoft Dot Net Framework can crash the Borland Database Engine if it’s installed after RIOS,
In order to fix this :
1 - Uninstall the RIOS software.
2 - REBOOT the PC
3 - Then reinstall the RIOS software. it will fix the problem.
try this and tell me if it has solved the problem,
(don’t forget to reboot after the uninstall, before installing again RIOS).
if you update the Microsoft Dot Net Frameworks, it could crash BDE again,
so, don’t forget to export your Project before, in order to import them later,
because uninstall and install overwrite the Projects stored into database.
Nope doesn’t work i uninstalled rebooted and reinstalled and nada. Ill try this in safe mode see if that works. Dose this happen with a particular net framework? iv got up to 2.0 installed never put 3.0 on.
EDIT: Thought i would just add this that the computer this was originally installed on i did a clean reformat on mid last week while i was waiting for parts and since then this has been happening. Although i installed it right now from the computer I’m typing from and it works fine, but no serial port on this computer =/.
Safe mode also didn’t work.
EDIT: Tried uninstalling and then installing .Net Framework 3.0 then rebooting and trying to reinstall RIOS and still no go.
did you uninstall with the Windows add/remove a program feature ?
deleting only the RIOS folder won’t work.
This issue is not easy to solve as you’re the third one only to have this problem (one by year ) and the two other guys have solved this by uninstalling/installing again RIOS.
the problem has started with the Dot Net V1.1, anyway i must say i’m not 100% sure it’s Dot Net fault as it works on many computers with Dot Net installed…
Is there another Database installed on this computer ?
could you turn the Antivirus/Adware stuff off and try again the whole Uninstall/reboot/Install process.
so…did RIOS work fine on this computer before this issue ?
Rios Worked fine before i reformatted the machine yes.
I did uninstall via the add/remove programs feature in windows.
I’m puzzled to on this one i will try removing the .NET framework right now and see what happens iv been reluctant to do so because certain things need it and uninstalling windows components tends to make windows mad =/
EDIT: Sigh removing the .NET Framework dose nothing either.
Dose RIOS install the BDE when you install it? If not anyway to make it do so? That could make it really simple to fix this kind of problem in the future for a user.
All is good in robot land for me again!
I do however have another question i have 2 arms and id like to control both from one SSC-32 board and have them do independent things. Although I’m not exactly sure how i would achieve that with the RIOS Software. Some insight would be much appreciated while i get to work on the motion for the first arm =)
RIOS is a single arm control application. It may be possible to run two RIOS applications and sync them using the socket server from another application. It would require two SSC-32’s connected to two separate serial ports.
Another method would be to use the SEQ program. It can control 5 arms all from one SSC-32, but you loose the IK features.
Interesting ill have to look into the SEQ program it sounds like it might be my best option.
Another thing that popped up and i figure i might as well just ask here instead of making a whole new thread, if i had a bot board and lets say a basic Atom or Basic Atom Pro dose that enable you to basically export a project from RIOS and load it onto this chip giving you the ability to not have to have the arm connecting to a serial port all the time? Can you make the arm loop the project over and over again this way too?
Also is there a limit that these servos have as to how long then can operate continually?
Yes that is what the Basic Export does. It does not however export any of the logical conditions for the project. You will need to modify the code for that.
Servos are hobby devices and there is no MTBF data on them. No one to the best of my knowledge has tested them.
Yeah, it’s alive! Sorry to bring up this post, but it was helpfull for me and I want to say thanks!
My RIOS stopped work after update for .NET 4.0.
I got an error 2108 (“An error occurred while attempting to initialize the Borland Database Engine (error $2108)”),
I reinstall the BDE 5.1.1 and shazan > RIOS works again!
