RIOS: Configuration/Repeatability issue

We have 8 AL5D Arms, and whenever we save a project, and reopen it, the positions are not even close.
When RIOS first opens, it asks for the config file, but apparently it doesn’t load it.

The only way to get it to work correctly, after you have shut it down, is to go to the SSC-32 screen, and manually load the right config file. After this is done, when you go to All 1.5, and then hit stop, it goes to it’s home position correctly. Then, and only after this is done, will the robot repeat a program correctly. I have not verified that this work around works 100% yet.

Am I doing something wrong? shouldn’t RIOS load the proper config file on start up when you chose it?

The students are working hard to make it work, but if it isn’t easily repeatable, I’m going to have some problems!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Beth got an email from Laurent last Thursday. He is still waiting for his internet connection. He will be back on line very soon. Hold on help is on the way.

Hello Churd,

I’ve tried to repeat the issue but it seems all is working fine here with RIOS V1.05.

The only reason i can find for this is that the “good” config file is not in the RIOS installation directory (normaly “c:\program files\RIOS SSC32”, no sub directory).

When RIOS is starting it lists *.cfg files found in its installation directory :

  • if only one file is found, it loads it automatically.
  • if more are found it asks which one to load.

but if your config file is stored somewhere else (or in deeper branch) than the RIOS installation directory you’ll have to load it manually from the SSC-32 config form.

The thing that could make you think it was not loading the config file (i think) is that there’s a file in the installation directory named the same as the one you manually load from another directory branch.

To correct this, go to the SSC32 config form and load your config file,
then save it in the RIOS installation directory.

Now RIOS will ask and load the correct file at startup.
