Reverse Knee?

I did some looking into this reverse knee description. I think I have even used it in the past. But now I prefer “chicken walker” and here’s why.

Beth found the following image for me…

If you look for the femur you will find it tucked up inside the body. The knee is actually not reversed, it just looks that way because the femur is hidden. What we have been calling the knee is actually the ankle. What would normally be a foot bone (tarsometatarsus) is elongated on a chicken, dogs too but that’s another animal… lol

Now the horse…

It’s sort of a mix bag… The back legs are “normal” but I think the front legs actually do have a reverse knee. lol

So if the “reverse knee” is really an ankle, would that mean the the ankle is reverse? or is it just me?

Edit: it actually was just me. i looked at the picture a little bit more.

Look down. You see toes?
