Research into Bluetooth Serial Control

Is there a Bluetooth receiver that I can use as a serial input to an SSC-32? I want to replace a serial cable with some wireless method, and Bluetooth is included on my laptop.

I’d eventually want to use Bluetooth to send stereo audio to my robot as well…]

Search for “BlueSmirf” in the threads. Available from SparkFun.

Thanks Alan… I was having a “senior moment” and couldn’t think of that.

Ah yes. Excellent tutorial!

Although I don’t believe that USB dongle is currently available from Sparkfun. My son just tried to order one.

Bluetooth USB Dongle (WRL-00150)

My laptop has Bluetooth built in, so I was expecting not to need the dongle. Just the receiver (WRL-10269 is the correct one?). I am also considering using an Aluratek ASI01F Bluetooth Audio receiver to send the audio for the animatronic mouth. (It’s kind of a Rube Goldberg solution; the PC sends to the audio receiver, which processes one channel via an on-robot circuit, and sends that to the ADC on the SSC-32, which sends the value via Bluetooth back to the PC, which sends the servo commands back to the SSC-32 to move the mouth!)

Here’s the old ones I’m using:

Bluetooth Modem - BlueSMiRF RP-SMA SKU#: WRL-00158 Sparkfun

Bluetooth USB Module SKU#: WRL-00150 Sparkfun (module to plug into
laptop, can’t find, new laptops may not need?)

2.4GHz Duck Antenna RP-SMA SKU#: WRL-00145 Sparkfun
