I’m looking to replace the small motor out of a Dyson vacuum bristle head, its a small Johnson electric motor and I haven’t found anything with confidence to replace it. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction or help me find one.
Dyson doesn’t sell just the motor and recommend buying a whole new bristle head for $130.
@FrankieD Welcome to the RobotShop Community. When considering replacing a motor, there’s really just too much to consider, so the best way would really be to find the exact same model if possible.
Nominal voltage
Current requirements
Shaft diameter and length (you’ll need to remove the gear somehow and place it on the new motor)
Overall motor length and diameter
The mounting (likely at the front) needs to be the same
As you can see, really hard to find a match, and even harder without the electrical specs. Perhaps check to see if there are forums of Dyson vacuum users and if anyone found a drop-in replacement? Search using the vacuum model and “replacement motor”. You might also try Ebay or similar marketplaces.
