Hello…
First time caller…I purchased the replacement extruder for the replicator 2 and installed it. It does not heat.
Any advise on first things to check would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Can you attach a few images to show exactly what parts were replaced? If it’s not heating at all, that seems to be a wiring issue (not plugged in at all, to the right connector, wires reversed etc.).
Simple issue might be to ensure the software actually powers it - you can also use the LCD interface to preheat (assume you’ve done this).
Don’t recall if there was anything to remove on a new extruder assembly.
Quite a few guides and videos online showing how to do it - might want to disassemble what you have and follow a guide to be sure a step wasn’t forgotten?
Thank you Coleman! My middle name is Coleman. Nice to meet you.
I rechecked all of the connections. I purchased a new extruder. It is a single installation, includes all of the elements of the extruder assembly, from RobotShop, two finished ends and two wires, red and yellow.
My thought is that it may be in the mother board. I had a Robotshop extruder that was performing perfectly. It ran out of filament on the final layer of a build, and for what ever reason, would not reload, would not heat.
I have now replaced it, and it appears that the extruder is not the issue.
Thoughts?
Thank you. I really appreciate the generosity of the community of forums.

To confirm, this is what you purchased (can’t find orders associated with this e-mail): robotshop.com/en/makerbot-r … embly.html
As you said, there’s not much to it - should be a drop-in replacement and so long as you connect the wires correctly, it should work.
(Brainstorming at this point) If the heater is not heating, that might mean…
]It already thinks it’s hot (maybe issue with the thermister, its wiring or connection to the motherboard/:m]
]It’s broken - and for no heat to get through, perhaps a wire is cut?/:m]
]It’s not getting a signal: Check that none of the wires are cut, and that the connectors are securely plugged into the MB. Alternatively, maybe it was accidentally miswired at the factory?/:m]
]Software (already suggested, but just in case) - when you retract the filament, does it “think” it’s getting hot (LCD screen temperature)?/:m]
If you think it’s the MB - can you reconnect your previous one to see if there’s any life left and it gets hot?
You might have some disassembly to do regarding the extruder assembly to check for anything burnt, miswired, broken, pins out of connectors etc.
