Removing servo horn

Hey guys,

I’ve just got 18 hitec servos that I’m planning to use with a homemade hexapod robot, but I can’t figure out how to get the servo horn off. The servos arrived a little uncentered after sending them a 1500 signal. I have searched the forum, and I see you need to remove the screw to adjust the horn, but when I try to turn it the shaft turns as well, and I am afraid I might damage the servo.

Can anyone offer me a tip on doing this?
Thanks!

EDIT: Found answer here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=7015
Looks like the servos are just “off” a bit. I guess I’ll have to find the zero points by hand.

Um…if you’re asking about how to take the horn off the servo; you take off the screw and then just pull the horn off.

Hope this helps.

What I mean is, when I try to turn the screw, the whole axle turns, it doesn’t loosen.

Try holding the horn when turning the screw. If you still find that’s too tight you can either rotate the horn to its full degree and then unscrew it, or apply power so the shaft doesn’t turn, or attach a brackets to the horn and hold everything tight while you turn the screw. Hope that helps.

Thanks! I’ll try that. I just didn’t want to damage them since they were so expensive.

They shouldn’t break but if one does you can contact the manufacture for replacement.
