Neat-O!

Very nice looking.

Cool concept.

Cool concept.  I hope you keep posting updates.

**More updates to come. **

I’m trying to get back up to posting my robots, and these guys have a bit of a back log for me to document.

Source Code Errors

First - thanks for posting. Nice job.

Second - I think there are a couple of errors in the Oscar Liang code. I pointed out one a couple of years ago and he dosn’t agree it is a problem. Reciently forund another. Neither apparently get executed of if they do the the effects are non fatal. If you are interested, I can post my observation and you can evaluate.

Solar panel?

Make it to search the best light spot for itself and the plant!

Sonar

I’d put sonars where the PIRs are.  Having them 1 or 2 of them on each leg would make for great situational awareness of obstacles at a cheap price.

Sure!

In my opinion, the Liang code is a good basis but leaves me wanting for more autonomy. Let’s make it better!

The PIR

are more for detecting predator motion than obstacles, but I hear ya. I did get these for about $2 each, so not worried about the cost. Plans for ultrasonic were for a pan mounted set of eyes.

I am planning a solar tree…

that acts as a base station while housing its own plant to support. That way guys like Sentiens take command from the home tree and act as explorers and minions.

On v2, I am hoping to move forward with a deign for panels on the legs, but the charging infrastructure for panel>charge controller>battery makes for quite a load to carry along with a living chunk of dirt. Hence the plan for a big stationary tree base element.

So… A big robot tree, with

So… A big robot tree, with little minions that roam around the lawn collecting sunlight via photovoltaics, then return to transfer the charge into the tree?
