Remote control's

hello i was watching the lates on hobby robtics on you tube and it had 100 things to build or something like that anyway the second one was to build a remote controll for your robot so you dont have to reprogram it every time you want to test something out. i have no idea how to go about doing this. i think he gave some information but i did not understand any of it. please could someone help.

p.s. i use picaxe if that makes any difference

does this work for picaxe

this said it was for arduino would this also work for picaxe and where would i plug it into my project board (in the example they used a breadboard) thanks alot though!
