Remote controlled puppet? Help

Can somebody smarter than me help me with something? I want to build a simple RC puppet thing, but don't know where to start. I guess I'd need a servo to turn the head side-to-side, and another to open/close the mouth. That's it. So what parts do I need, and where do I get them? 2 servos, a "receiver" and a transmitter and some sort of battery? I'd like to do it cheaply as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Help us help you

Hi there!

Can you please give us some more info about your puppet:

What is it going to be used for?

What does it need to do?

How would you like it controlled (controller/smartphone, bluetooth/wireless/wifi etc)

How handy are you with coding and building etc?

Based on what you have given us you could certainly use a servo or two to handle opening and closing a mouth and also turning the head. A third servo could be used in the neck to provide up/down as well as left/right (look up pan/tilt with servos).

To control these I would personally go for an arduino; they are simple to program, can handle servos and can be connected to bluetooth or 2.4gHz receiver for control. They come in a variety of sizes so should be able to fit the dimensions of your puppet, whatever size it is

Batteries are certainly doable too. Once servos have been picked we can see what voltage/current they require and suggest some ideas there, Im sure
